Description
This painting uses a vertical scroll to present a “two mountains flanking one stream” composition. The artist uses blank space that runs from top to bottom, suggesting a waterfall and mist. On the left side, the conifers are rendered with short dabs and sweeping strokes, producing heavy foliage, while on the right the trees and rocks are built up through layered ink in rounded dots, giving a rich and living texture. By varying the ink's density, the artist draws the waterfall without a clear outline, set against the dark forest. The contrast between void and solid conveys the deep seclusion of the forest.
