Description
From 2015 to 2017, the artist created the film trilogy Ruins, which centered on Beijing's vanishing hutongs. The Ruins was created through on-site inspiration and improvisation within complex character dynamics. The film employs a cool color palette. It incorporates lots of B-roll footage to supplement spatial depth and emotional resonance. Camera movement is only apply on body shots of characters, and the others are locked-off cameras. Most of the visual variations rely on shot scale and angle. It reveals the ruinous nature inherent in everyday life.
