Description

The artist created a “familiar” dynasty, called the “Lotus Dynasty”. The Lotus Dynasty comes from her imagination—a utopian world with no wars, only poetry; no palaces or grand buildings, only mountains and rivers. Conflicts between states are resolved through poetry competitions instead of war. Poetry ultimately brings peace and victory. The ruling class in this world understands that noble and humble are meaningless—because in their hearts, there is only a boundless, unified cosmos. She uses delicate, small-script calligraphy and expressive landscape painting to develop the “Landscape Treatise”, a theoretical framework that the artist created to explain her whole ideas about landscape. And, she reconstructs the traditional Chinese knowledge system—Classics, History, Philosophy, and Literature—in this imagined dynasty. From imperial edicts to astronomical texts, her version of “pseudo-classics” becomes a complete re-creation of poetic time and space through painting.
