By the Tenor of these Presents be it known to all Men, that we Philander Chase, by Divine permission, Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the state of Ohio, solemnly administering the Holy Orders, under the protection of Almighty God, in Worthington, on Sunday, the eleventh day of June, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and Twenty, did admit, into the Holy Order of Deacons, our well beloved in Christ, Philander Chase, Junior, of whose virtuous and pious life and conversation, and competent learning and knowledge in the Holy Scriptures, we were well assured; and him, the said Philander Chase Junior, did then, and there, rightly and canonically ordain, a Deacon; he heaving first in our presence made the subscription required by the General Ecclesiastical Constitution. In witness whereof we have caused our Episcopal Seal to be hereunto affixed. Dated the day and year above written; and in the second year of our consecration.
