Description

This work consists of forty-two “Forever” brand bicycles. These bicycles have been dismantled and reassembled into a circular interlocking structure. The artist is deeply influenced by Marcel Duchamp, which is reflected in his reinterpretation of the cultural significance of the "Forever" brand bicycle within the context of contemporary art history. The “Forever” brand bicycle was produced in Shanghai in the 1940s and later became the leading manufacturer of bicycles in China. The work also raises the question of the concept of “forever” in the rapidly changing 21st century (source: https://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/collection/works/616.2014/#exhibitions).
