Description
In 2017 the Guggenheim hosted an exhibition called Art and China after 1989. Cai Guo-Qiang was included in a subsection of this exhibition called 'Third Space" where his works "Ascending Dragon: Project for Extraterrestrials No. 2" and "Drawing for The Century with Mushroom Clouds: Project for the 20th Century". In both of these works the artist uses materials salient to ancient Chinese history and culture to question the role of violence and technology in the modern day. (Nicole Wang '26)
