Description
This installation -- or arguably sculpture -- is comprised of a vast wooden door placed on -- sealed -- the ground, with scattered stones embracing the door. Scholar Sun Zhen Hua has conjectured that the door placed on the floor is an eloquent metaphor for closure, separation, and disjuncture: disjuncture of social classes, of material wealth, of spaces, of opinions; the list goes on. (Sun, 傅中望:得智慧者得自在, October 12, 2020, Shufajia, available on http://www.shufadajia.com/?act=general&appid=10&mid=76718&p=view&said=164&id=0&usid=0&rev=prev) (Jerry Wu'23).
