Description

The title is a line of Mao's poem, 沁园春 雪, which conveys a idea of that instead of holding a nostalgic feeling about history, the present heroes deserve more attention. There are two parts under this title (see Part Two at https://digital.kenyon.edu/zhou/495). Part One includes five paintings and Part Two, namely this piece seems to be a cottage of five paintings from part one. Both pieces depict ordinary people. For example, the foreground of the first painting looks like a family portrait, while the background features three women in dresses and two men in suits and ties. Additionally, floral patterns, a prominent feature of the artist, appear in this painting. The characters are generally happy, but the symbol of power, men in suits, is in the background, drawing attention from the audience. However, in Part Two, all men in suits are removed.
