Description

Three figures are portrayed in a light gray background. They look almost identical but no facial expressions and are all staring stiffly to the front. However, several red bloodlines are depicted in order to connect three figures. The person portrayed in the middle has a light yellow face, and a red armband. This work is painted in a gray tone, and the figures are rather two-dimensional. As Dr. ZHOU Yan suggests, the artist recollected the memories of old family photos in making the”Bloodline Series”, as there was a trend of taking "standard" family photos since the 1950s (Yan Zhou, “A History of Contemporary Chinese Art”, Springer, 2020, pp. 297-299).
