Description
On a dark, square wood panel, JIANG Jie enclosed a silicone rubber sculpture with medical gauzes. The sculpture depict one -- if not more (the title of the work "Relative Fusion" shall suggest to us the plurality of the figures) -- anthropomorphic infant figure(s) without a crisp, utterly identifiable finish. Having infants as her subjects, as JIANG Jie does in other works such as "The Appearances of Life" and "Approaching", the artist may again in this work emphasizes the vulnerability of human being, from the illustrated infancy to the later maturity and adulthood. The work disclosed as well may be JIANG Jie's craze for the "baby", the untouched, the primitive, the Genesis without its iconography.
