Description

This work is assembled by several plaster sculptures with figurative shapes of babies, of whom are being captured in different states in each of the sculptures. The marriage of sculpture and installation which JIANG Jie introduced in this work makes it hard to decree one single genre to this work; indeed, to combine sculpture with installation is one JIANG Jie artistic goal in her works. One critic Li Tingting commenting on this work highlights the emotion "fear"; to her the "babies" are as if being locked in an alternative world of disorder by the artist, suffering fear from their physical and mental vulnerabilities.
