My dear Bishop-

I suppose Mr. [C] has informed you of his proposal to build a memorial hall at G. in memory of his deceased child for S. School. B[?] Class + Lecture use. He asks my permission. Of course I could only accept + be thankful though I fear it is too much for them. I have requested him to confer with you about [?] + plan, + then let me know. B[itter] has sent me his resignation of St. Pauls Columbus, to take effect when I say. He had got my letter saying I could not recommend him for a Chaplancy, + answers in a respectful way - There is a difference between him + the [?] as to [?]. He says he was to have 200 of Miss. Shephard in addition to 800 from the [?] They say it was the part of the 800. as it took his C[?] from them. He says you know it to be as he states it. Write me immediately what you know about it. They say they have paid him all they promised. He says the contrary, because of the other difference of understanding.

I am aware of a correspondence between you _+ Mr. Burker. He is in very good spirit about hte matter + evidently very desirous of the success of the scheme + desirous to do all he can for it. Suppose you wrote Mr. Anderson + ask his idea of the best place of getting the 25000- in Cinc. My idea is that if you place it in the hands of a Committee here, of which Mr. B. shall be a leading member, + much as he would suggests as its other members, he would put it through. It would please him it would give him a sense of paternity in it, + with his great energy so enlisted, he would make it go.

Our dear old friend Col. Bond was was [burned] last Sunday. I must send something to the paper about him.

Yours affectionately

Chas.P.McIlvaine
