My dear Mr. Chase-
The writer of the enclosed, my excellent friend Mr. Norwood of N.Y. asks of me as you will see a letter of introduction to you, which I shall send him. I enclose his letter, which of course he does not imagine you will see, that you may understand him + his visit. He will not know that I send it. He is a very honourable man, + in large business in stockwells. It was his letter which I sent you before - He is very intimate with Mr. ARchibald the English Consul in N.Y., + is a most zealous supporter of the country against copper-heads + all such.
For a day we were made very anxious to hear about Mrs. Sprague till the account of her having been injured in a R.R. collision was contradicted.
Yours affectionately,
Chas.P.McIlvaine
Hon. S.P. Chase.
