Description
The local board announced Monday that two calls have been received for grammar school graduates to take special courses in mechanical instructions. The calls include 300 men to go to Cincinnati and 103 to go to the Toledo university, leaving on July 16. Both calls are open for voluntary enlistment until july 1. The quota for Knox county has not yet been announced. The men will receive special instruction at Cincinnati in carpentry, sheet metal work and other mechanical lines, while those sent to Toledo will be trained as automobile mechanics. The board has also been assigned a quota of eight colored men to go on July 16. Questionnaires will be mailed to the new registrants in the three days beginning June 25, Clerk Evans announced Monday.
