Description
William Barber made and affidavit at the Mt. Vernon hospital Saturday afternoon charging William Simmons with shooting with the intent to kill. Mayor Perrine visited the man at the hospital and Barber swore to the affidavit before the mayor. Simmons is charged with shooting Barber as the latter was in the act of stealing cabbage from the Simmons' garden patch in South Vernon. Simmons gave bond for his appearance before the mayor at a hearing to occur next week.
