My dear Wife,
We set off (the Driver and myself) yesterday about 9. AM from Circleville for this place: & tho’ through the frailty of our Harness were greatly impeded: but nevertheless arrived here in the evening about 7.
The affairs at Circleville are promising.
I bought 4 Bushels of Cloveseed for the benefit of our College pastures & shall bring it with me next week to Gamr. Hill. Shall go today to Worthington & return on Monday [hither]: when I trust our Book will be ready. I believe I must send it by mail every where.
John [Kilbourn] is very sick.

Pray read the inclosed [sic] and then deliver it to Mr G. Denison with my compliments requesting him to return it to you or a Copy, stating as a reason that as it is probable the [Quarrel] of Kenyon College will end in driving me from the Hill. I [desire] that I may have some evidence What part I have acted in the Tragedy.
Your loving Husd.
P Chase
