My dear Wife,
You see by the date that I am on my way back to Columbus. I wrote you while in Chillicothe; but I think it was previously to the administration of the Rite of Confirmation. There were 14 pres[en]ted on Sunday & 5 on Tuesday making in all confirmed at this visitation in Chillicothe 19. The Members of Mr [Bam]man’s Congregation are more than usually animated in the performance of their Christian duties and some additions to their numbers are noticed from other denominations.
My whole time was occupied in visiting in preaching and praying with this very interesting people.
I have a small present for you from the [Ladies].
I have taken a violent cold: & could hardly speak last night. Mr. [Bam]man read prayer. Today we confirm [her]. How many I know not. I shall go to Columbus tomorrow
your faithful Husband
P. Chase
