Dear Nephew:
I have just finished a long, laborious & rapid visitation on the “Reserve.” I have been the humble instrument of consecrating three Churches to the service of Almighty God and of confirming a goodly number in the belief profession of his name. The Rev. Mr. Wing went along to assist me in the arduous duties. The Rev. Mr. Sanford was also with us in Medina, Grafton Columbia Strongsville & Cleveland. The Rev Mr. Hall was somewhat indisposed with a weakness in his bowels & could not attend us far. 36 were confirmed at Ashtabula. At Batavia they are doing very well. At Boardman where the last church was consecrated their hopes are animating. The Rev. Mr. Wing has thoughts of settling there. He has gone home a short way on horseback. I am with my trunk sometimes in the public stage coach & sometimes set forward by the goodness of friends. I wait here this day because the coach does not go till tomorrow (Wednesday). I called for the persons friendly to the Church last evening & addressed them (6 or 7 in number) in this my room at Watson’s. I am invited to preach this evening. No one know how to respond. What shall I do? Tomorrow night I hope to be in Washington and thence shall get home as soon as possible, to put things to rights before the Convention when I trust I shall have the very great happiness of seeing you Dear Dear Nephew & Son in the Lord. Love to Dear Rebecca & Mary & all. Your faithful
Phi’r Chase
