By the Tenor of these Presents be it known unto all [?] that we Philander Chase, by Divine permission Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the State of Ohio, solemn administring holy orders under the protection of Almighty GOD, in St. Peter’s Church Delaware on Sunday the seventeenth day of June in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven, did admit into the holy order of Priests our well beloved in Christ, George Montgomery West, of whose virtuous and pious life and conversation, and competent learning and knowledge in the holy scriptures, we were well assured; and him [who] said George Montgomery West, did then and there rightly and canonically ordain a Priest, he having first in our presence made the Subscription, required by the General Ecclesiastical Constitution.
In witness whereof, we have hereunto [o]ffixed our hand and seal. Dated the day and year above written and in the ninth year of our consecration.
