My Dear Venerated Friend,
By the advice of Mr. West, I write, before I part with [?], to say that it is too probable he may finally quit his native country without some of those documents to which I have referred. He has suffered the loss of his portmanteau which contained them and, though we hope it will come back in answer to the reward advertised, it has not yet been restored. I, however, saw part of them, and Lord Kenyon the whole, verified their existence, and principal contents to be exactly as represented by Mr. West. Again, ever your devoted friend.
