Mrs. Bateman regrets not being able to see Chase before he leaves for America and sends him an album, which she hopes he will fill with comments on the Scripture and return to her.

Mrs. Batemans’ Christian Regards to Bishop Chase and understanding from Mr. T. Wiggin that his stay at Platt will be very short, she has taken the liberty of sending her album to request the favor of his writing to her. It is her particular wish he should be the first to enter his comments upon any text of scripture he may choose.

Mrs. B. regrets exceedingly she shall not see the Bishop to spend the day with her having been informed he is leaving on Monday but hopes he will not deprive her of the pleasures of a call.
