Right Rev’d Sir,

We beg leave to lay before you the enclosed paper, being a copy of a letter addressed by us to the Standing Committee of the Diocese of New Jersey — It represents the measures which they have seen fit to take, on a canonical request, made to them for the much desired veneration of Rev’d Philander Chase, Bishop elect of the Diocese of Ohio, to the Episcopate; and also our sentiments on the merits of the care — We must respectfully solicit your counsel —
