Nov 2’d 1836
My dear Grand Daughter
I send you by Dr. Cas[?] the following books.
“Derry--”
“Christian Melodies”
“House of a Thief”
These a day or who only since, I received from England sent by valued friends there to you my beloved grand daughter: and my [Easter] prayer is that they may be blessed to your spiritual benefit.
A moment only is left me to inform you by Dr. Castle that our [?] sickness and fatigues have been exchanged for very good health and sweet content in a peaceful habitation. Would that I could hear from you! I wrote to Mr. Morse a long letter some month or six weeks ago and [as] yet I get no answer. I fear my letter failed to reach him. My best love to him and your much loved & highly esteemed Mother. That the divine blessing may always attend you and in your Parents’ dwelling is the devout of Dear Mary your loving Grand Father.
Tell Dear Papa I want seeds for the [?] all ours were burned up. Also [?] seed
