Abstract
A fragment of the sima, or gutter, from the Temple of Apollo. The lion head in the center forms a drain spout with its mouth.
Description
A fragment from the marble sima on the classical temple, featuring palmettes, spirals, and a lion-head drain spout. The sima refers to the upturned edge of the roof, creating a gutter behind it, and was a very common feature of Greek temples.
