Description

By evaluating eight of Zhang's work, the New York-based art historian and photographer, Joan Lebold Cohen, talks about the meaning behind the artist's installations and their relations to the contemporary issues. As Joan states, "Zhang's pieces all have a sardonic humor and far-out comments on the mores of so-called civilization. By distancing himself from the usual and politically correct point of view, he reveals the absurdity of our lives and asks the viewer to make his own conclusions." This essay points out the important value of Zhang's works and their high status in the international artist internet. (Yifan Shang '25)
