Description
This artwork represents a redefinition of ink as a traditional medium. Unlike classical landscape painting, which relies on controlled brushwork to modulate the density and spread of ink in depicting natural forms, the artist applies ink to water, visualizing its physical processes — flow, diffusion, and evaporation. By reducing the control over brushwork and instead following the natural movement of ink in water, she reveals the intrinsic material qualities of the medium itself. This practice enters into dialogue with the splashed-ink tradition in Chinese painting history, shifting the spontaneity of brushwork to the material relationship between water and ink.
