Description

Dancing Spirit" is a work made during the period when the artist emigrated to Austria. The sculpture takes the form of a kettle-shaped fountain, with splashes of water that make it resemble a harp. Water, referring to semen, became a thematic subject for Wu during this time. As he noted in his book "Wu SHAOXIANG—In Europe," “Water was intended for man as his most beautiful, purest providing element. It gives us life and teaches us each and every feeling. Life goes on as long as water flows.” For details, please refer to https://digital.kenyon.edu/zhoudocs/475/. Other works by Wu about the theme of water include "Family” (https://digital.kenyon.edu/zhou/626/). (Zhuocheng Jiang '26)
