Description

The title "Ma Wang Dui" alludes to the archeological site of the same name in Changsha, Hunan province. To represent the texture of the relics, the artist used comprehensive materials. The genuine "Ma Wang dui" is a tomb of an aristocratic family from the Western Han Dynasty. The artist took this concept and used it to exhibit a portrait of Joseph Beuys, a German artist of the 20th century, and Jin Nong, a Chinese painter in early Qing Dynasty, as well as some text in the tomb. Through the optics on the tomb, the audience can view their portraits. (Zhuocheng Jiang '26)
