Description
This piece is comprise of two large canvasses. It is also a part of a greater collage of Yang's artworks that display various automobiles and glass water bottles juxtaposing each other (https://digital.kenyon.edu/zhou/453/) . The red colorization of the vehicles and the bottles provide sharp contrast to the white background. Yang's brush work is bold and starkly visible. The absence of thorough blending gives each brush stroke a feeling of "solitariness", a term coined by her to describe her work. This style of brush work is very characteristic of the artist, and gives her oil paintings a harsh, powerful quality. (Nicole Wang '26)
