Description
"Nike" is one of the products of the "Meta-Ceramic Art Series" project. The artist played a paronomasia in the title. The Chinese title is "来客", which means guest, and is spelled as "lai ke" in pinyin, but the artist used Nike, a well-known brand of western product, as its transliteration of Nike, seen on the back of the piece. In the front, A Donald Duck's head is grafted on a Chinese dragon's body, holding US dollars in hands and wearing Nike sneakers. In this sense, "来客"(Guest) might refer to imported culture assembled to dragon, a symbol of traditional culture. (Zhuocheng Jiang '26)
