Description
This work is a collage composed of two clips of photograph. A picture with an image of a Chinese Red Army figure is divided vertically into 16 strips, while another picture of a Western beauty's face is divided vertically into 17 strips. The artist reassembled the strips of the two photographs into a collage work. Each strip starts and ends at the same point and appears to be equal width but unequal length. Since the strips are not equal in length, each of them produces different degrees of bending. Therefore, these bends produce shadows that are mapped on the other strips in the light. (He Zhang 25')
