Description

This work was exhibited in FONTANELLE in Potsdam, Germany in 1993. On the postcard, a photograph taken by Peter Meyer in Hamburg, Germany, titled “Two Benetton Posters,” is presented in the front. It is photographed under the direction of Wu Shanzhuan and Inga Svala Thorsdottir. Inside a glass can, color printed paper is pulverized and filled in the bottle. Written in English, a label with basic information of the project such as working time, size and material is stuck on the glass can. This work belongs to Wu’s “Bird Before Peace” series. Along with slogans and declarations like “second hand water”, “to buy is to create”, these works form the conceptual formula upon which the creation of “Wu’s things” - from installations to paintings to reality-based performance art was instructed, as well as code-words for his personal philosophy (Lot 138, The Ullens Collection - Experimentation and Evolution, Sotheby’s, https://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2011/the-ullens-collection-experimentation-and-evolution/lot.138.html). See the link below for the back of this postcard. (Yifan Shang ‘25)
