Description
This is the second work of the artist's triptych "Stone Series -- Ya'an Shangri Red Rock 石头系列 -- 雅安上里红石". The artist uses a naturalistic and expressive approach to present the state of life of the stones. In terms of composition, he draws on the flat and distant layout of classic landscape painting, in which the streams meander, the rocks stacked on the banks, and the vegetation overflowing with vigorous vitality. The stream is flatly painted in red, while the red rocks on the bank are faded, outlined in carbon black or deep red, and then shaded in light red, with white space left to show where the strong light shines. The large area of red, either thick or light, is striking against the rich contrasting and complementary colors of carbon black, green and medium yellow. The first work of this series shares the properties (https://digital.kenyon.edu/zhou/345/). (He Zhang 25')
