Abstract
This study qualitatively examines Ohio reproductive care providers’ understanding of legal requirements, institutional protocols, and workplace norms surrounding informed consent, toxicology screening, and CPS reporting and assesses the extent to which these providers have interacted with law enforcement in their jobs. Our online data collection is currently in progress, which will be analyzed by three coders. Through this process, we will identify common themes in providers’ care regarding substance-using patients, experiences with law enforcement in their workplaces, and develop recommendations for safeguarding confidentiality and family well-being in Ohio.
