My dear Sir,
I wrote some time ago to the Pres. to thank him for his having appointed my nephew to a [Cadetship]. But I have yet to thank you for your kindness in promoting it, & also for your kindness in regard to Mr. [Coxe’s] appointment. I shall send you a copy of my late [Charge]. Some Sunday you may read it. I go to the East the second week in Oct. to attend some meetings & before I return may call at my Hotel in Wash’n., the Chase House.
