Bishop of Winchester to Bishop C.P. McIlvaine
July 18, 1864
My very dear Bishop,
Carus has communicated to me the intelligence of your actual descent upon our shores, & I hope this will meet you with a most hearty greeting on your arrival in London. It is delightful to think that we shall visit again - & as I trust ever long. I shall be about on Saturday next, for the day, & from Monday till Friday the 29th, both inclusive. After that day, I shall be here as far as I know, except on the 10th & 12th of August, till Monday the 15th - and at any time convenient to you, unless on the excepted days, we shall be most glad to receive you & your family party here. We includes the Milford’s who are now in residence.
I understand that you have left behind, to my great sorrow, not only Mrs. McIlvaine, but _____ the _______ & her sister, but that you have others with you, whom I shall cordially welcome.
Most affectionately yours,
Bp. of Winchester
Bishop McIlvaine
P.S. How pleasant again to address this to you in England!
