To the Eccl. Authority of the Diocese of Delaware.

Dear Bishop, I transfer, with the usual form implied, the Rev. William A. Newbold + am glad you are going to have one so good + [?] able so near you. How wonderfully the sky has brightened as to our country’s cause since July the past. At one time we seemed to be [drowning in] the deep mire in very slippery places. In a day all was changed + now our feet seemed to stand on a high rock of strength. The Lord be praised. With my best love

Your brother
