Description
An enthusiastic meeting of the colored people of the city was held Wednesday evening at the Odd Fellows hall when preliminary arrangements were made for a Welcome Home celebration in honor of all the colored boys in Knox county who were in the service in the world war. Over 50 persons were present at the meeting. Charles A. Hamilton was elected chairman of the general committee. At this meeting an executive committee was appointed, as well as a committee on refreshments. It was decided to hold the homecoming on Monday, Sept. 22. One of the large halls of the city will be procured where a dinner will be served at the noon hour to all colored men in Knox county who were in the service. Other entertainment will be provided for the day.
