CORNER STONE
Of The New Calvary Baptist Church Laid On Sunday
The cornerstone laying at the new Calvary Baptist church on South Mulberry street attracted a large crowd of people Sunday afternoon. The ceremonies were dignified and impressive and met with great favor. Rev. Jones of Cleveland was secured by the local church as speaker of the day and his remarks were very well received. There were a large number of visitors present from Columbus and Cleveland. The following program was carried out:
Hymn, "God's Praises" -- Choir.
Hymn, "Blest Be the Tie That Binds" -- Choir.
Address -- Rev. Jones of Cleveland.
Talk -- Rev. Grayson, pastor of the church.
Talk -- Rev. G. Rector Dye of the First Baptist Church.
Laying of Cornerstone.
Benediction -- Rev. Jones.
The cornerstone laying was in charge of Contractor Spohn. In the stone were deposited a history of the local church, a history of the Sunday school, a list of the members of the church, the trustees, deacons and the name of the pastor, objects of historical interest, such as coins and relics.
