Cpl. Daniel J. Hill has returned to Scotts Field after spending the holidays with his family and parents. John E. Payne received his discharge on December 23 after four years and ten months in the army, serving most of his time in the Pacific. H. Bernard Lowe visited a few days with friends. Rev. L. W. Johnson, formerly pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist church, passed away at the Holzer hospital in Gallipolis, Wenesday, January 2. He was to have delivered his farewell sermon at the Baptist church on January 6. Burial was made in Columbus. Mark H. Cann, 41, a World war veteran, passed away Wednesday at 11:00 p.m. at the Brecksville Veterans' hospital after a four months illness. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Julia Hill, four nieces and four nephews. The funeral was held Saurday at Shaw funeral home. Burial was in Mt. View cemetary [sic]. Mrs. La Rue Clifton of Dayton visited two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Taylor.
