Ross' MA Thesis addresses the question of the role of obsidian blade production in the Late Classic political economy of the Naco valley. Please note that it was after Neil wrote this thesis that we more firmly made the division between the valley's Late and Terminal Classic time periods. Owing solely to our error in not recognizing this distinction earlier, some of the Late and Terminal contexts that Neil studied were combined. This does not detract from the significant, detailed findings in Neil's thesis; drawing on the data presented here and in his lithic analysis sheets that appear in the Analysis Sheets section of the archive, the reader can get a good sense of where and when obsidian tools were being made and who might have controlled these processes.
