Gambier Ohio Feb 23rd 1840
Dear Buck,
I wrote you long-long since, but I have no [had] a line from you. Why my old friend is this silence? Have you forgotten former days and former friends? If so, [Hudson] must be a damp [existence], nothing and miserable place to effect you thus, I so soon too.
I will not believe my [friend] that you have intentionally forgotten to write but that other causes with which I am nor [?] have produces this [?] on your part.
I send you a prospectus of a magazine prepared to be published by the two societies, hoping that - your [?] has not extended to them as it (apparently) app[?] has to now. I request that you will, for the intent of the [?], find your aid to our undertaking -
