I received your letter sometime since lots of good will “yours respectfully.” I have been pretty well since I last wrote to you so far so good says Jamie. I have been engaged for the last three or four weeks in writing my oration for the spring exhibition which takes plase[sic] on the 21 of next month at which time just imagine me in “[Sundays]” [pouring] forth at a tremendous rate hard enough to break an egg shell just think?? shant I do wonders? who answers who. I have got the first copy done I shall now show it to the Proffessor[sic] and let him criticise it then and then rewrite it and commit it. Charley has nearly written his I believe. Hurra for the Kenyon lads. Canada “now one and forever.” The papers say that there are lots of fighting in Canada yet and that there are a good many patriots in our country assembled on the peninsula, opposite from Portland, that are [going] over to fight for “freedom and liberty” [?] to the right side “may they live a thousand years.” Well done [?] little Nickodemous[sic] Corncracker that you tell about. They never told me any about those doings form home it must be a mighty great secret or the must be ashamed to “let their deeds be done before men lest their deeds are evil.”
I hope we shall go on next fall to see the Yankees. I spose you have seen all their pints by this time. Have you had enough of Yankee land yet. How much [fame] will we have if I do. But this is all in embryo. I have sent you a catalogue of this college Have you received it yet tell me in your next letter. I expect you will see a great many new things in Boston remember them and tell me everything you saw there. I have my vacation in three weeks from next Wednesday for four weeks. I will send you a scheme of the exhibition perhap[s] as a letter or as a wrapper to some news paper, so look out for it. It time to go to church so good bye
