CLUB WOMEN IN FAVOR OF A DRY UNITED STATES

State Federation Closes Session Here Wednesday Evening

SUFFRAGE AND RED CROSS DISCUSSED

Retiring President Given Two Hand-Bags; Notes Of The Day

Discussion of current problems, Red Cross work, and the adoption of a resolution favoring national prohibition featured the closing session of the convention of the State Federation of Colored Women's Clubs at Calvary Baptist church, this city, Wednesday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. James K. Lyman and Miss Critchfield of this city appeared before the convention and explained the work of the Red Cross, answering such questions as arose.

Miss Zara DuPont of Columbus, an active suffragist, gave a very interesting talk on the problem of the ballot for women, coming here by special invitation.

A double surprise was in store for Mrs. Minnie Scott of Toledo, retiring president. By the federation she was presented with a leather handbag, while, in addition, the ladies' exchange tendered her a satin handbag.

Two places were mentioned for next year's convention -- Steubenville and Zanesville. The decision will be announced in the next issue of the "Queen's Garden."

Many of the delegates expressed a desire to return to Mt. Vernon, appreciating the splendid hospitality extended them during their sojourn here. The local Twentieth Century club is to be commended for its efficient handling of the convention. The following programs were given Wednesday:
