To the Rev: George Montgomery West, a Presbyter of the Diocese of Ohio.
Rev; Sir
We are informed, upon satisfactory evidence, that you have preached in this city, or its immediate vicinity, & on Sunday last particularly, without “using the Book of Common Prayer,” or any part thereof, “as the same is established by the authority of the General Convention of” the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States. This being a “violation” & a most gross one, of the 45th Canon of the General Convention, you are hereby, in conformity with the 40th Canon of said Convention, “admonished” thereof, & “forbid to officiate in the diocese” of Pennsylvania.
