My Dear wife
We turned back to Perrysburgh after having travelled 26 miles up the Maumee river, and took a new start in a different direction though much round about to St Joseph --
The reason for turning was that w could not go thro’ the woods with Mr Wells carriage.
The place where we slept is called [Prane] [Damasseus], at which place I visited a dying man & exhorted & comforted the surviving Orphan.
I preached yesterday 18 miles from this. I saw in this place Mr. Obrien. He is doing well & the Ladies are building him a Church. I am well - & set off instantly for St. Joseph.
Love to Mrs. Russell Sarah & all the children.
