Rev. & Dr Brother
I hoped in this to be at Baltimore on my way to Washington but have been detained by the loss of some of my baggage. It has not yet been found, tho’ an Advertisement was appended to the Return Way Bill. I hope however this night’s coach will bring it. Whether this be the case or not I shall go on as far as Fred’kTown and wait a day or two;
Perhaps I may spend my Christmas with you.
What a wanderer I am! My Family I have not seen there 5 or 6 weeks. My only consolation is in trying to do the will of God.
My best regards to Mrs. H & love to your dear ones
Your faithful Friend
P. Chase
