Dear George,
I have this moment arrived at this place, leaving two days later than I expected to have been, when I parted with you. This delay was accompanied by the ten [?] of the Stage which carried me from N. [York ?] to [?] and may even neglect to serve a beverage in [?] yesterday from Balt[imore?] to Wash[ington?] At N. York, I fell in company with my old friend Dr[?t] [Shaw?] who accompanied me to their place. My journey has been rather agreeable than other[wise?], [?], the weather has been severely cold. I visited no place of amusement on my way; my time [?], not a[?] of it. I have just finished a letter to your aunt Olivia, told her of your health [?]. Shall send you the first [?] things I [?] at. In the meantime and in great haste.
Yours, most opportunely
Dudley Chase
