My very dear Uncle;
I [whish] I could tell you how honored I felt myself in reception of your letter of Dec 28th
Tell Aunt Olivia that I most heartily thank her for thinking of me a person of so little consequence. I am glad I had so good a mother especially as it is to her I owe my being so kindly noticed by Aunt Olivia.
You tell me “to deserve well,” I fear I cannot deserve but little; but I will do as well as I can; and I sincerely thank you for your good advice. My Dear Father has returned; and is much pleased with his journey. The school goes on well.
Pray send the inclosed to my Dear Aunt and ever believe me your most dutiful and grateful and affectionate Nephew, Dudley Chase
