A Declaration and Statement of my untold affairs when I returned from England 1824
When I went to England to obtain a fund for our Seminary, I did it on my own risk. I relinquished my Salary as President of Cincinnati College which was [$500] per ann. and on the 4th of August 1823 set off with my family for New York State. If I had been unsuccessful I should have had no one to call upon for my losses. But God having blessed my endeavours with a considerable degree of success I think it right that the matter of my expenses and those of my family should be adjusted in the following manner:
Let my salary continue & let my extraordinary expenses be defrayed.
